Extremely Hot Ambient Temperature and Injury-related Mortality

چکیده
This pilot study aimed to evaluate the effects of extremely hot ambient temperatures on total number fatal injuries. Data were collected from a population-based mortality registry Thanh Hoa, province in North Central region Vietnam. qualified distributed lag non-linear model and calculated RR 95% CI adjusted for long-term trend absolute humidity. For entire population with 3,949 registered deaths due injuries during 2005-2007, after onset temperatures, an increased risk death was observed 9th day (95% CI) = 1.44 (1.06–1.97) reached peak 12th 1.58 (1.14–2.17), at 15th 1.49 (1.08–2.06). Men old adults identified as most vulnerable groups. confirmed positive association between injury-related 3.6 million people. The findings motivated further investigation into effect warm climate changes related other specific causes such road traffic, work-related injury, etc.

Modulation of Menopausal Hot Flashes by Ambient Temperature
-1. The effect of ambient temperature on frequency, intensity and duration of hot flashes was studied in six women with hot flashes who were exposed to cool (T a = 19°C) and warm (ira = 31°C) /'as for 8-h periods. Heart rate, skin resistance, core and skin temperatures, subjective hot flash intensity and duration were recorded. 2. In the cool T~ as compared with the warm Ta, hot flashes were si...
متن کاملAmbient temperature during gestation and cold-related adult mortality in a Swedish cohort, 1915-2002.
For all climatic regions, mortality due to cold exceeds mortality due to heat. A separate line of research indicates that season of birth predicts lifespan after age 50. This and other literature implies the hypothesis that ambient temperature during gestation may influence cold-related adult mortality. We use data on over 13,500 Swedes from the Uppsala Birth Cohort Study to test whether cold-r...
متن کاملTruancy and injury-related mortality.
Truancy has well-documented short-term and long-term consequences, but there are few studies that look at its impact on injury-related mortality. This study evaluated the rate of injury-related mortality for 2006-2010 among youth (11-17 years old) with a history of severe truancy compared with youth without such history. There were 168 injury-related deaths (51 homicide, 29 suicide and 88 unint...
متن کاملAmbient temperature and mortality from unintentional cocaine overdose.
CONTEXT Hot weather taxes cardiovascular function and is associated with increased deaths from heart disease. Cocaine can cause hypertension, tachycardia, coronary vasospasm, arrhythmias, and increased core temperature. OBJECTIVE To determine the association between mortality from cocaine overdose and hot weather. SETTING New York, NY. DESIGN Retrospective review of medical examiner cases...
متن کاملDelineation of Spatial Variability in the Temperature–Mortality Relationship on Extremely Hot Days in Greater Vancouver, Canada
BACKGROUND Climate change has increased the frequency and intensity of extremely hot weather. The health risks associated with extemely hot weather are not uniform across affected areas owing to variability in heat exposure and social vulnerability, but these differences are challenging to map with precision. OBJECTIVES We developed a spatially and temporally stratified case-crossover approac...
